ANZAC Day

Each year, we are so impressed and touched by how well Year 3 present the ANZAC Day Service to our College community.

Congratulations to our Year 3 students and teachers for delivering an outstanding ANZAC Day Chapel. Students spoke with confidence and respect, sharing the ANZAC message in a thoughtful and solemn manner.

Year 3 began the Service with a procession through a packed Luther Hall of students, staff, parents/carers, Defence families and guests.

We were also honoured to welcome Madre Rebecca Hopfner, who led the opening prayer, Sargeant Joel Hennessy,  and a Catafalque Party from Latchford Barracks. We sincerely thank them for their presence as our community paused to acknowledge and remember the service and sacrifice of our servicemen and women.

Guest Speaker, Sergeant Joel Hennessy addressed the College and spoke of his experiences at the ANZAC Day 100 year anniversary service in Türkiye, as well as encouraging us to embrace the spirit of ANZAC, which might mean looking out for a mate or taking time to talk to a veteran. We were so grateful to the Catafalque party, with members from the Australian Defence Force School of Health from Latchford Barracks, who attended our Service.

Colours of ANZAC

As part of the Service, Year 3 students created artwork choosing a different colour to represent different aspects of World War I. The artwork was on display in Luther Hall which parents/carers and our special guests were able to view afterwards.

A quote from a parent in attendance communicated the following to our College: “I wanted to extend my sincere congratulations to you and the team for such a beautifully and thoughtfully delivered ANZAC service this morning. "The Colours of ANZAC" video, in particular, was a stunning tribute - the use of colour was incredibly moving and served as a powerful reminder of how children see the world and make sense of complex and emotional experiences. The entire service was delivered with great care, respect and intention. You should be very proud of the Year 3 students. They did an exceptional job.”
