Pink Stumps Day 2026

Staff reclaim their lost title

Despite being another year older (though arguably no wiser or fitter), the Staff XI once again demonstrated that experience and composure still count, claiming a convincing win over Year 12 in the annual Staff vs Year 12 Pink Stumps match and raising vital funds for the McGrath Foundation along the way.

Batting first, staff posted a strong 171 before dismissing the students for 98 in reply, securing redemption after last year’s surprise loss and re‑establishing their dominance in the fixture.

The staff innings was built on calm, controlled contributions. Our Principal, Mr Moss led from the front with a top score of 37, supported by solid efforts from Mr Dean White and Mr Joshua Clarke, who both retired not out. Ms Bernadette Ley was a standout, batting with patience and precision, while Miss Ruby Strang achieved a rare Pink Stumps double: victorious last year as a student and again this year as a staff member.

The bowling and fielding followed suit. Year 12 key bowler, Lara struck early and bamboozled Mr Ramwater with her spin bowling, whilst Mr Mollison enjoyed a moment of redemption but was a key dismissal later in the innings. In the field, there were highlights at both ends, including an excellent catch from Abbey that drew well‑earned applause.

While Year 12 showed moments of resistance through Walter, Callum and Sophia, their chase never gathered sustained momentum. The staff team maintained pressure throughout to close out a comprehensive result.

Most importantly, the day was a tremendous success off the field. Thank you to everyone who contributed from the many staff involved in the organisation and the students who stayed behind to assist with pack‑up.

Final Scores
Staff: 171
Year 12: 98

Staff now lead the series 8–1.

Highlights were plentiful:  Abbey’s catch, Lara’s ball of the day and Walter’s commentary. As a result, talks of next year’s contest have already begun.
