Congratulations to all students who represented Victory Lutheran College at this year’s Caldwell Shield. It was a fantastic day of competition, sportsmanship and school pride, with students competing in great spirits across every sport.
The weighted scoring format meant that every team played an important role in the overall result, and it was a true whole College effort that saw Victory reclaim the Caldwell Shield.
Our teams recorded impressive wins across the day, including victories in:
- Year 8, Years 9 &10 and Years 11 & 12 Netball
- Years 10-12 Football
- Years 11 & 12 Girls & Boys Volleyball
- Years 7 & 8 Girls & Boys Soccer
- Year 9 & 10 Girls Soccer
The standout moment of the day came in the Senior Football match. After trailing by four goals at quarter time, the team produced an incredible comeback. Our Year 12 leaders lifted the group with their determination and composure, inspiring everyone to raise their intensity. The match went right down to the wire before Cooper Wilton kicked the winning goal with just 20 seconds remaining, sealing an unforgettable Victory.
To every player who pulled on the jumper, well done! Your willingness to fight until the final siren and your unwavering belief that you were good enough to win was inspiring. You never stopped competing, never stopped backing each other, and your resilience was rewarded with a victory.
A huge thank you to all students for the way you represented the College throughout the day. Your attitude, sportsmanship and support for one another were outstanding and are exactly what we strive for as a sporting community at Victory Lutheran College. Win, lose or draw, the respect you showed your opponents, teammates and officials was something to be proud of.
Thank you also to our staff, coaches and officials for their time, commitment and support in making the event such a success. We look forward to defending the Caldwell Shield next year.
